My Thoughts on Social Media: LJ1

Prompt 1

My personal Dos and Don'ts of social is pretty simple i would say. I personally don't like to spend too much time on social media because i feel like it can be very addicting and time consuming as well as being very unproductive. Basically all that i am doing is just scrolling through entertaining pictures and videos, which i think is fine in moderation but too much of it is just a waste of time you could be spending doing more important things. I do like to look at motivational social media posts from time to time because i think it can be very therapeutic. It's always nice to see a really inspiring quote or a video of someone telling you something very positive. When i first got into social media, i was posting silly stuff all the time like updates of my day. For example, "Just made a fantastic sandwich #Yolo". That was when i was a kid and everyone was posting that kind of stuff because it was funny. Nowadays, I don't really post that often and when i do its mainly pictures or videos of my friends and family or pictures of me on traveling. Back then i was mainly using Facebook, MySpace and Vine, but nowadays i mainly use Instagram, Twitter and TikTok. If i could go back, I wish that i had known more about how much of an impact streaming has to do with social media and how i could get into it before it blew up. Most of the time on social media i see a lot of funny or entertaining clips of streamers and they make a lot of money off that stuff.

Prompt 2

When it comes to Social Media and Self Expression, i feel like that part of it is really cool and entertaining because i like how it still keeps everyone you grew up with in touch with each other and you're still able to see how everyone is doing.  When it comes to selfies, i don't mind them, i actually love seeing everyone growing up and looking good, healthy and happy. When it comes to your online image, i feel like it is kind of a mirage. It is very easy for people to make it look like they're living lavish and perfect through social media when in reality, things might not be going so well for them. When it comes to Rules/Criteria for posting, i do believe that everyone has the freewill to post whatever they want, i just think depending on your career choice, you should be very cautious of what you post. When it comes to comparing yourself to others i think people should completely refrain from that as i stated earlier, a persons social media image is very easy to make it look better than what it really is in real life. When it comes to quitting social media, i feel like that is entirely up to the person. I personally don't think i ever will because social media is a great way to advertise a business you could be trying to start or if you're trying to promote certain things.
