Assignment 3

       So for this assignment i chose to use instagram for my time diary considering the fact that i think i use instagram more than any other social media tool. I know that i go on instagram at least a couple times a day so i felt like this would be the best choice to select for my time diary. So my time on instagram for the last 4 days is this: 



Friday, February 17 I averaged 52 minutes.

Saturday, February 18 I averaged 52 minutes.

Sunday, February 19 I averaged 20 minutes.

Monday, February 20 I averaged 1 hour and 19 minutes.

Which makes sense to me because on the weekends i'm usually pretty busy and don't really goo on my phone too much in general but on the week days i have a little bit more free time and can just hang out for a little. I only ever go on instagram on my iPhone. Im aware that you can go on it on your laptop or iPad but for me personally i just like to use it on my phone so that i can just use it wherever i want. Im also able to check at what point in the days that i am mostly on instagram and my graph says that my most active time on instagram is in between 6pm and 8pm which makes sense to me because i get home from work and class most of the time around 6pm.

     I do believe that the way that my work and class schedule is set up affects how much time and the time of the day i am able to be on instagram because if i wasn't busy working or being in class than i would probably be on my phone a lot more and earlier in the day too since i wouldn't have much to do. Most of the time when i am on instagram, i am just browsing through funny or entertaining videos to watch as well as being able to see updates on my friends and colleagues life's. Thats mainly what i use it for and sometime i post pictures on there as well. Also when i'm on instagram, if i see a funny video i always send it to my friends as well and they do the same because we all have the same sense of humor so we all pretty much find the same things funny.

       This week’s reading mainly talked about how at the start of social media it was mainly just about getting users to onboard their platform and whichever platform had the greatest number of users would be the most popular and winning one. Nowadays, its mainly looked at for the business side of it.
